Aurora Solar Technologies Inc. (TSX Venture : ACU)

About:  Aurora’s mission is to deliver exceptional results to the photovoltaic industry through measurement and control of critical processes during solar cell manufacturing. The company’s hardware and software solutions provide process engineers and production-line operators with the means to rapidly detect and correct process excursions, material faults, limit variations, and optimize processes, thereby eliminating yield-reducing and profit-killing product variation. Aurora is creating the standard for quality control systems for the global photovoltaic industry.

Opportunity: In the past, the solar industry has benefited from a large amount of subsidies to be viable. As these subsidies are gradually being withdrawn, solar panel producers need to improve their processes to remain competitive in a growing global market. Aurora’s patented solutions aim to provide productivity improvements and a rapid ROI to these producers, which is a huge market opportunity for the company. With a market capitalization of less than $15M and spectacular revenue growth, Aurora Solar Technologies will certainly be one to follow over the coming quarters!

UGE International Ltd. (TSX Venture : UGE)

About: UGE International is a turnkey commercial solar provider that delivers immediate savings to businesses through cheaper and more reliable solar energy. The company sells, develops, engineers, procures, manages and finances projects to help its commercial and industrial clients become more competitive through the low cost of distributed renewable energy. Distributed solar is the world’s fastest growing source of energy and has now become cheaper than the grid in UGE’s target markets.

Opportunity: With the cost of solar panels having dropped more than 90% over the last 10 years, distributed solar energy is now experiencing tremendous growth in North America. UGE International, being a leader in its market thanks to an experienced team, is in an excellent position to take advantage of this opportunity. After posting total revenue of USD $5.8M in 2016, the company’s backlog now stands at over USD $47M over the next 12 to 18 months. With a market capitalization of only $25M, the future looks very bright for UGE!
