Espace MicroCaps 5to7 Cocktail – Smallcap Discoveries Special

Espace MicroCaps is glad to invite you to its third thematic event, this time showcasing the investment newsletter Smallcap Discoveries, at the Bier Markt Montreal on Wednesday, June 28 at 5:00pm. Our events are the perfect occasion to improve your investing skills, discover new investment opportunities in the Canadian microcap space and network with likeminded investors.

The evening will start with an educational presentation from two guest speakers: Paul Andreola, editor of the investment newsletter Smallcap Discoveries and his partner Brandon Mackie, writer and researcher. They will share their investment criteria and what they call the ”Discovery process” of the small publicly-traded companies. After that, two companies that have been huge successes for Paul and Brandon, Hamilton Thorne Ltd. (TSX Venture: HTL) and Covalon Technologies Ltd. (TSX Venture: COV), will present.

Where: Bier Markt Montreal, 1221 René-Lévesque W, Montreal

When: Wednesday, June 28 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm

The first 75 participants to register and to show up at the event before 5:25pm will receive a $10 coupon for a free drink of their choice. No coupons will be given after 5:25pm. Expert speakers: Paul Andreola and Brandon Mackie, Smallcap Discoveries

Paul Andreola: Paul Andreola is the editor of the investment newsletter Smallcap Discoveries. Paul has honed his skills from 30 years of varied smallcap experience. He has been the co-founder of two public companies and CEO and director of another—all three in the technology space. He also helped raise the initial funding for each. This experience gives him an important view when he is interviewing management teams for newsletter stock picks. He knows the pitfalls and mistakes that management teams must avoid. Paul also spent 10 years as a retail stockbroker, again focusing exclusively on smallcaps.

Brandon Mackie: Brandon is a chemical engineer by training and got his start working in the oil business. It was there he got the investing bug — and began writing the Moatology blog in his free time. That blog took Warren Buffett’s competitive “moat” framework and applied it to microcaps. An early reader of that blog was Paul Andreola, who later became Brandon’s partner at Smallcap Discoveries. Brandon is currently the lead writer and researcher at Smallcap Discoveries and is also the VP of Finance at Soylent, a U.S.-based food startup.

Smallcap Discoveries: Smallcap Discoveries is a paid newsletter with a focus on microcaps. Paul and Brandon’s methodology is based on what they call the ”Discovery process” — invest early on in discovery when nobody knows about the company and sell to institutions much later in the process. Since inception in November 2014, Smallcap Discoveries profiled a total of 12 companies. Today, these companies show an incredible average return of 225% per company since the moment they were profiled. The biggest successes to date have been Hamilton Thorne – HTL.V (+870%), Pioneering Technology – PTE.V (+740%) and Lite Access Technologies – LTE.V (+696%).

Hamilton Thorne Ltd. (TSX Venture : HTL)

About: Hamilton Thorne is a leading world-wide provider of precision instruments, consumables, software and services that reduce cost, increase productivity, improve results and enable breakthroughs in Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) and developmental biology research markets. Hamilton Thorne’s laser products enable a wide array of scientific applications and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedures. Its image analysis systems are designed to bring quality, efficiency and reliability to studies of reproductive cells in the human fertility, animal sciences and reproductive toxicology fields. Finally, the company’s standardized toxicology assays and quality control testing services help to improve outcomes in human IVF clinics.

Opportunity: Hamilton Thorne is a consolidator in the global ART industry. The company did two game-changing acquisitions in the last 10 months which should be highly accretive to revenue, earnings and to the overall growth profile of the company. Hamilton Thorne is profitable, has a clean balance sheet, is led by a CEO who is highly experienced and trades at a reasonable valuation to our pro-forma model for the next twelve months. Even though HTL’s stock is up almost 400% since presenting at our event in June last year, we still believe its risk/reward profile is outstanding.

Covalon Technologies Ltd. (TSX Venture : COV)

About: Covalon Technologies researches, develops and commercializes new healthcare technologies that help save lives around the world. Covalon’s patented technologies, products and services address the advanced healthcare needs of medical device companies, healthcare providers and individual consumers. Covalon’s technologies are used to prevent, detect and manage medical conditions in specialty areas such as wound care, tissue repair, infection control, disease management, medical device coatings and biocompatibility.

Opportunity: In 2016, Covalon won some large tenders in the Middle East which drove significant revenue growth in Fiscal Year 2017. In the first six months of FY17, revenues were up 257% compared to last year and the company was profitable. With a large pipeline of products still to be launched, we think growth could accelerate even more for Covalon in the months and years to come. The company’s experienced leadership team built a strong foundation and is now ready to bring Covalon to a new level.

So there you have it. We look forward to showcasing these two exceptional companies as well as the bright minds behind Smallcap Discoveries. To reserve your spot, please click here.

We hope to see many of you on June 28!
